“ec·lec·tic (əˈklektik) noun a person who derives ideas, style, or taste from a broad and diverse range of sources.”
Since early childhood I have delighted in "making things." I began sewing at my mother's side as soon as I could hold a needle and pounded nails beside my father at an early age. Painting, crayons, woodworking, sewing and sculpture were all a part of my earliest artistic endeavors as well as dancing, singing and acting in Community Theater. An incessant "doodler" I was always drawing little flowers and curly-queued sketches. And I was always making something.
After earning my Bachelors degree in Fine Art, I continued to create in a variety of media. My main interest is textiles and sewing. But I have also work with wood, metal and ceramics.
Since I don’t like doing “production work” I seldom make two identical items. My aesthetic includes both traditional and modern techniques and styles. I often include vintage materials and found objects in my work.
My business name “Eclectic Edith” reflects this diversity.
